CUET

CUET, formerly known as CUCET is a national-level competitive exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) every year as a common entrance test for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. CUET exam aims towards providing a common platform for all potential candidates across the country to apply to many central universities for their desired career options.

 

Unlike previously, the candidates now have a one-stop destination to numerous universities through one exam. By clearing the exam of CUET the candidates get eligible for various colleges affiliated to different universities. This has been helpful in terms of saving time and is also comparatively inexpensive.

 

The candidates are evaluated for admission based on the standards set by the examination committee. They ensure a fair and transparent admission process. The universities also benefitted from the simplified process of the CUET exam. The exam is conducted online (computer mode) at their preferred exam centers.

 

NTA has released the exam dates for:

 

  • CUET UG 2023 is to be held from 21st May 2023 to 06th June 2023.
  • CUET PG 2023 is announced to be held from 10th June 2023 to 12th June 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. English Language: Vocabulary, grammar, comprehension passages, sentence structure, and error correction.

Cut Off

The cut-off of the CUET 2023 exam will be made available on the official website of CUET of the concerned university after the conclusion of the examination. After the announcement of the results, candidates can check the cut-off released on the official website. The cut-off marks will be released in the form of a scorecard. The candidate should keep a copy of the scorecard for future reference.

 

What exactly is the cut-off?


The cut-off marks will be the minimum marks required to get admission into the desired program of the candidate. This differs from program to program. The cut-off marks are determined based on the category of the candidate, their performance in the exam, availability of seats in the college, and more. 


The candidates must stay updated about the release of cut-off marks to get timely admission and counseling in their choice of college and course. The cut-off marks will be decided by the authorities after the completion of the exam. Candidates who secure marks equal to or above the cut-off marks will be eligible for admission.

Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of CUET 2023 has been released on the official website of the National testing Agency. The exam will be a computer-based test conducted mainly in English and Hindi languages except for the Sahitya papers.

 

Structure of Question Papers

 

  • Each question papers have 100 questions in total.
  • The question paper will be divided into 2 parts: Part A and Part B
  • Part A will consist of 25 questions each and Part B will consist of 75 questions each.
  • The questions will have multiple choices to select the answer from.

 

The language of the question paper can be selected at the time of registration except in case the language papers where the entire question paper will be in the specified language.

 

Marking Scheme

 

  • Each question will carry 04 marks.
  • For every correct answer, the candidate will be awarded 04 marks.
  • For every wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of 01 mark.
  • Unanswered questions will not be given any marks at all.

Admit Card

All the CUET candidates will be given their respective Admit Cards before the examination. The Admit Card is extremely important as no candidate will be allowed to take the exam without the Admit Card. Candidates must carry their Admit Cards to the examination center.

 

Once released, the candidates who have successfully registered for the exam of CUET can find their Admit Card on the official website of CUET. Candidates are requested to check the details mentioned on their Admit Cards before the examination.

 

What details does the Admit Card carry?

 

  • Candidate’s Name
  • Candidate’s Photograph
  • Date and Time of the exam
  • Exam Centre Details

 

Candidates are advised to carry an ID Proof along with the Admit Card at the center of the exam for verification purposes, it is a very crucial document that must be preserved carefully even after the commencement of the examination as it may be required during the counseling and admission process.

Seat Allotment

The participating universities will release the seat allotment on their official websites after the announcement of the results for the exam of CUET 2023. This process will be undertaken by each of the participating universities separately. Depending on the availability of seats, the CUET counseling process will be conducted in multiple rounds. During the verification process, candidates will be required to furnish the original copies of their documents along with photocopies for scrutiny.

 

Candidates will be allocated seats in relevant courses in the university after the counseling of the eligible candidates. The allotment of seats will be based on several factors including,

  • Candidate's rank: The rank of the candidate obtained in the exam of CUET.
  • Candidate's Category: The category of the candidate. Reservations are given to SC, ST, and OBC.
  • Seat availability: Seat allotment is heavily based upon the availability of the seats at the college.

 

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and have secured a rank within the CUET cut-off range will be invited to participate in the counseling rounds.

 

Several rounds of Counselling

 

Candidates who are unable to secure a seat in the initial rounds of counseling may be eligible for the subsequent rounds, subject to the availability of seats. Therefore, candidates need to stay updated on the counseling process and participate in all the rounds to enhance their chances of admission to the desired university and course.
