About Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University, New Delhi

Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU) holds a unique status as India's first Pharmacy University and the third globally. Established through Act 07 of 2008 by the Delhi State Legislature, it became operational in 2015. DPSRU is a 100% grant-in-aid State Government University, recognized under UGC's Section 2f and Section 22. Its roots trace back 57 years, starting with the inception of D. Pharm. in polytechnic in 1964, which evolved into the College of Pharmacy in 1972 and later transformed into DPSRU. Governed by the Act, Statutes, and Ordinances published by the Government of Delhi, DPSRU is overseen by the General Council, with the Honorable Lt. Governor serving as the Chancellor. The university's administration includes the Board of Governors, Academic Council, and Finance Committee, which comprise external distinguished personalities. The university campus spans 10.36 acres and currently accommodates approximately 2600 students, along with 90 faculty members and 136 supporting staff. DPSRU offers a comprehensive range of programs, including certificates, diplomas, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees. Furthermore, it plans to introduce new courses in Nursing and Biomedical Sciences. In addition to academic excellence, DPSRU maintains a strong focus on research and innovation. Several faculty members from DPSRU are globally recognized for their research contributions. The university has published a significant number of high-impact research papers and holds patents. It actively promotes innovation and entrepreneurship, having nurtured 18 startups, including products like 'Ezypro' and 'CoroQuil-Zn,' addressing critical healthcare needs, including complications from COVID-19. DPSRU has invested in state-of-the-art research facilities, such as the Ocular Pharmacology lab, Clinical research, Herbal Technology, and Nanotechnology Centers. It has also established collaborations with national government institutions, pharmaceutical industries, and international partners in countries like the UK, West Indies, Portugal, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and China. The university's Vice Chancellor has received honorary professorships and distinctions from institutions worldwide, underscoring DPSRU's international recognition. With a multidisciplinary pedagogical approach, DPSRU aims to prepare students for competitive careers in pharmaceutical and allied health sciences. It has achieved significant success in campus placements and national competitive examinations, with several students receiving scholarships and research fellowships from government agencies and industries.
