Seth Chunilal Amarchand Bohra Law College

Seth Chunilal Amarchand Bohra College of Law was established in 1974 by Taranath Shikshana Samsthe, a pioneering educational institution in Raichur, to meet the growing legal educational needs of the people of this backward region. Originally affiliated to Karnataka Dharwad University, the college owes its name to a Rs. 51,111 drawn in Raichur by philanthropist Seth Chunilal Amarchand Bohra as per their wishes. The college initially operated in the premises of BRB College of Commerce until 1991, after which it was moved to a new building. Former Karnataka Chief Minister Sri S. Bangarappa graced the inauguration of the new building. Since its establishment, the Faculty of Law has played an important role in producing qualified young lawyers. Although many graduates have gone on to careers in the legal profession, remarkably few have succeeded in the judiciary. The university has also been successful in attracting students from neighboring Andhra Pradesh. The college has a highly experienced, qualified and dedicated staff and a well-stocked library. Affiliated to the Karnataka State University of Law, Hubli, the college offers comprehensive and modern legal education to its students. Over the years, the college has had the privilege of hosting a number of legal leaders. Celebrities like Justice Shivaraj Patil, B.S. Raikote, Chandra Shekar (Former Karnataka High Court Judge), Late K.S. Hedge (Former Supreme Court judge), K.B. Navadgi (Former Judge Karnataka High Court), Justice Malimath (Former Chief Justice Kerala High Court), Justice Rama Jois, Justice M.S. Patil, Judge N.Y. Hanumanthappa and Prof. Ajjappa attended university, e.g. Taranath Shikshana Samsthen Seth Chunilal Amarchand Bohra Law College has helped fulfill the legal education needs of Raichur and surrounding areas. With a rich history and a strong emphasis on quality education, the college continues to produce qualified lawyers who make valuable contributions to the legal profession and the judiciary.
