About Shardabai Pawar Mahila Arts, Commerce & Science College

Shardabai Pawar Mahila College of Arts, Commerce and Science was established in 1991 with the aim of empowering women in rural areas through quality education. It work under the Baramat-based Agricultural Development Trust. The college is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly Pune University) and is registered under UGC Section 2(f) and 12(B). The college is located in a vast campus of 18.14 hectares and has a spacious infrastructure with an area of 9320 sq. This infrastructure creates an environment good for learning and growth. The college offers various unique activities that promote entire development of students. One such activity is force recruitment training for women. The goal of this initiative is to improve the functionality of students by equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for a career in law enforcement. By providing specialized training, the college empowers young women and increases their chances of employment in the industry. Another important program is "Swayamsiddha" which focuses on personal development and empowerment. Through this initiative, students are encouraged to explore their interests and develop their skills. By proving their confidence and improving their overall personality, Swayamsiddha empowers women to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. For the financial independence , the college launched the "Karmveer Fair Scheme" to help economically disadvantaged students. This system ensures that economically disadvantaged students receive meals at low prices. By meeting the basic needs of these students, the college promotes expansion and ensures equal opportunities for all students to continue their education. The university offers a wide range of academic programs to serve different interests. It offers 23 undergraduate programs, 8 graduate programs and a Ph.D. microbiology program. This wide range of courses allows students to pursue their academic interests and gain specialist knowledge in their chosen fields. The college has received expressive funding and recognition to further improve the quality of education. 170 lakhs approved by UGC for conducting two B. Voc. programs aimed at providing professional training and skill development. In addition, the UGC has allocated Rs 80 lakh for two community college courses to ensure that students have access to practical and industry-related training. In 2020, the Department of Botany, Chemistry and Microbiology received the prestigious Star College program from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT). This recognition highlights the exceptional quality of education and research provided by these departments. As part of the scheme, DBT has generously allocated 63 lakhs to support the development of these three sections.
