IIT Delhi, established in 1961, and IIT Bombay, established in 1958, are both prominent institutions in India. The NIRF 2024 engineering rankings put IIT Delhi in second place, despite its younger age, and IIT Bombay in third. This close ranking emphasizes how important it is to compare these universities, especially for potential students. Let's examine the information to see how they compare.

Average income

IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi have both demonstrated outstanding placement statistics over the years, but a deeper examination reveals clear patterns. The average CTC for IIT Bombay graduates in the placement season of 2022–2023 was Rs 21.82 lakh annually, a minor rise from Rs 21.50 lakh annually in the year prior and Rs 17.91 lakh annually in 2020–21.

This consistent increase is a result of the high demand for graduates of IIT Bombay. IIT Delhi, in contrast, has a history of paying greater average wages; in 2022–2023 the average CTC was Rs 25.82 lakh, up from Rs 24.45 lakh in 2021–2022 and Rs 22.69 lakh in 2020–21. This pattern demonstrates how well IIT Delhi is able to place its graduates in higher-paying positions.

Highest Salary Packages

IIT Bombay is the school with the greatest compensation packages. IIT Bombay recorded the largest overseas package in the placement season of 2022–2023 at an astounding Rs 3.67 crore annually, while the top domestic package came in at Rs 1.68 crore annually. High-value placements have been the norm in the past, with notable top offers of Rs 2.1 crore in 2021–2022 and Rs 1.4 crore in 2020–2021 being seen in prior years.

The maximum package available at IIT Delhi in 2022–2023 was Rs 41.13 lakh annually, which is still a significant amount but falls short of what is offered at IIT Bombay. The maximum packages offered by IIT Delhi, however, have increased steadily over time, going from Rs 33 lakh in 2020–21 to Rs 36.7 lakh in 2021–22.

Registration and placed students

IIT Bombay had 2174 students registered for placements in 2022–2023; of them, 1845 actively participated in the placement process, and 1516 were hired, yielding an 82% placement rate. Compared to the prior years, when the placement rates were 76% in 2020–21 and 80% in 2021–22, this is an improvement.

In the meantime, IIT Delhi continues to have outstanding placement results, especially in its MBA programme, where 100% placement was attained in 2022–2023 with an average compensation of Rs 25.82 lakh annually. As demonstrated by other years, IIT Delhi consistently maintains a high placement rate.

Both IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi are excellent in placing their alumni in prominent positions, although they also have advantages. Students looking for the best pay find IIT Bombay to be an appealing option due to its notable international offers and greater top salary packages. But, IIT Delhi's steadily growing average pay demonstrate its capacity to draw in good offers from all corners, making it just as competitive and alluring to top recruiters
