Last five year's NIRF ranking of NIT Srinagar

The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar’s (NIT- S) ranking saw an increase this year in the engineering category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Currently NIT is ranked at 79 with a TLR of 62.60.

NIT Srinagar's ranking decreased to 82 last year from 66 in 2022. The Institute's position within the engineering category has increased from the 2023 rankings, according to the most recent NIRF 2024 rankings, which were revealed by the Education Minister on August 12. The institute, however, was not able to make its mark in any other NIRF 2024 categories including research, innovation, or architecture.

In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, NIT Srinagar was ranked between 1201 and 1500, while it did not rank in the QS World University Rankings. NIT Srinagar's NIRF Rankings from past few years are as follows: In 2024, the institute was ranked at 79th , a slight Improvement from its 82nd position in 2023.In 2022, NIT Srinagar had a 66th rank. 

In the engineering category, the score saw a minor improvement from the one acquired in 2022, despite the rank possibly declining in 2023. It received a 45.70 in 2023 but a 45.52 in 2022.

In the engineering category, it scored 45.70 in 2023 with 58.44 in teaching, learning, and resources (TRL), 26.62 in research and professional practice (RPC), 64.89 in graduation outcomes (GO), 59.67 in outreach and inclusivity (OI), and 12.30 in perception out of 100.

NIT Srinagar was founded in 1960 and it offers eight engineering courses for undergraduates in the following departments: computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, information technology, computer science and engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and metallurgical and materials engineering.

Students can choose from 11 MTech programs, an MSc in chemistry and physics, an MBA, and an MTIEM for postgraduate study. In addition, all engineering courses, physics, chemistry, mathematics, social sciences, and management are offered as PhD programs by the institute.
